Property Entrepreneur and Public Speaker, Grant Gavin, was called on recently to motivate a large group of TianDe (the international Spa, Beauty and Personal Care company) consultants at their sales and networking conference that was held at the Coastlands Hotel in Umhlanga.
Grant, who is passionate about Entrepreneurship, having founded the Durban Entrepreneurs club in September last year, gave his audience – all entrepreneurs in their own right – a good idea of what it takes to be an entrepreneur. “An entrepreneur is someone who jumps off a cliff – and builds an aeroplane on the way down!!” He exclaimed. “Your average six year old has the spirit of an entrepreneur. They are adaptable, curious, energetic, they have no fear, they speak their minds, they are sociable and passionate. If they can keep those amazing qualities throughout their lives, they will make the best entrepreneurs. However, sadly, when they get to school, sometimes these qualities are dissipated.”
Grant went on to say that the very best investment we can make in our lives is to invest in ourselves – and concentrate on the 4 stages of growth – survival, stability, success and significance. Selling, explained Grant “Is the art of influencing a customer to make a decision – without being manipulative. “You need to be able to deliver your facts with absolute confidence. If you know your product well, you will not have a problem influencing a customer to buy it – but never make the mistake of putting short-term profit before the real needs of the customer.”
The word TianDe means Divine Protection in Russian. The company was established ten years ago in Russia and deals with natural health, beauty and household products. It is headed up in South Africa by Goldie Roberts who is based in Durban North.
