Sales was in the spotlight at the latest Entrepreneurs Workshop, the popular weekly event that is held virtually and hosted by award winning business women Margaret Hirsch (Executive Director, Hirsch’s) and top business coach, Marlene Powell. Yoke van Dam a behavioral change coach, with more than 16 years’ experience as a professional sales trainer and coach, was the Guest Speaker and her topic on how to increase sales by for instance, making the horse thirsty, had the audience enthralled.
Yoke who is a director at Y-Connect, and serves on the Speakers Committee for the Professional Speakers Association of Southern Africa, teaches leaders how to get buy-in into their ideas, how to be confident and how to speak in a way that will make people want to listen, and how to get them to buy from them. In her presentation she highlighted the fact that clients need to see you as the expert and the authority. “ You need to be the maven (the authority), the connector, and the salesperson. If you don’t sell, your business stops. Consider: Finding out more about the person you are selling to. When you show risks and data you can point out what fires are brewing ; the principal of scarcity is also important – people hate missing out. Make that horse thirsty! Create things like a waiting list until the offer goes live. Draw on peoples emotions as a call to action – you can actually create needs”.
Margaret, who has helped create livelihoods for many people on many platforms, not just through Hirsch’s commented that selling was an integral part of all businesses and life in general “If you sell you’ll never starve.” She pointed out.
Marlene, who has watched businesses that she has coached during the pandemic, survive and thrive beyond their expectations, said that being authentic was another important factor in sales. “Show that you care, but don’t give away the “how to” until you have to” she said.
The next Entrepreneurs Workshop will be held on Friday, September 3 when Margaret and Marlene will be joined by Regulations and Compliance lawyer with Legalese, Thomas Reisenberger. His topic will be “Becoming POPI Compliant. What You Need To Know. Follow this link to join. http://bit.ly/2MbtT28
