PINKY MANQELE ON THE IMPORTANCE OF EFFECTIVE COMMUNICATIONS

Pinky Manqele,  a Speech and Language Pathologist, a conversation strategist and a public speaker gave a thoroughly informative and inspiring talks to entrepreneurs from around South Africa who zoomed in for the weekly Entrepreneurs Workshops.  The workshops that are hosted by Get U Noticed clients and award winning business women and the Executive Director of Hirsch’s, Margaret Hirsch and top Business Coach with ActionCOACH, Marlene Powell have seen an impressive number of listeners zooming in or listening in on Margaret’s Facebook Live platform.

Pinky, who is also the communications director of Tedx DURBAN and helps potential TEDx speakers to master their talks before being broadcast around the world, explained that there are two types of communication –  verbal and non verbal  and both are equally important. “you can communicate a message through effective body language as effectively as you can verbally.”  She said.

With regards to using communications as a business strategy, Pinky stressed the importance of mastering communications to build better business relationships – both internally and externally; packaging your own story effectively as this played an important roll in getting the message across of WHO you are; be relatable to the people you are talking to; keep it real – be honest and authentic and uniquely you; be a good listener and speak clearly and concisely; make sure your message is received well by being  clear and concise; convey important points clearly; create a level of trust; keep things simple and paint the full picture; convey your messages with respect and love; speak with empathy as it helps build trust; leave a legacy about how you made people feel.

Marlene expanded on the theme saying that if something is true to you, it should be easy for you to talk. “If there’s a purpose for what you share you will be fine and it will make a difference.  Always surround yourself with people  who push you out of your comfort zone, and this will help you to be spontaneous if you are put on the spot. ”.

Margaret, who did a  successful TEDx talk in 2012 explained the importance of doing the talks as it goes above and beyond building confidence.  Pinky can be contacted on info@tedxgreshamplace.com for more information on the talks.

Margaret and Marlene will be joined by Podcaster extraordinaire and the host of his Cliff Central Show, Gareth Cliff at next weeks event.  Follow this link to join.  http://bit.ly/2MbtT28
