EIE TEAM – SPREADING THE MESSAGE.. THAT HAPPY CO-EXISENTENCE WITH ELEPHANTS – IS THE WAY TO GO!
One of the most rewarding parts of the journey through Africa that the EIE crew has experienced, has been working with local schools and handing out well prepared literature that the crew put together for school children. Up in Eretsha village in the Okavango Panhandle of Botswana, where there is a battle for space between elephants and the local population (15,000 people co existing with roughly 15,000 elephant) the crew visited Beetsha School to hand had flyers and talk to the children about the importance of the elephant.
The crew were visiting the area to give support to the magnificent work being carried out by Dr. Anna Songhurst, the Field and program director of Exoexist and her husband, Dr. Graham Mculloch – the Policy Director, who have been living and working with the communities in the Eastern Panhandle since 2008, investigating community perception towards elephants and recording data on elephant distribution and habitat use. Anna and Graham were hugely appreciative of the support given to them by the EIE team with regards to their interaction with Beetsha students.
Glenda Thompson from Get-u-noticed is proud to be part of the EIE team.
