With instruction from Linda Gathmann from Tash B Pilates Studio, a group
of North Coast residents got together on a beautiful Saturday morning recently
for a Pilates session on the Salt Rock Beach. The Pilates session was a
Fundraiser for Pink Phoenix Cancer Foundation, and was co-ordinated by
Sarah Swainson from Sarah Elizabeth, (whose mother is battling cancer and
Her mother in law died from breast cancer ) who wanted to help bring awareness
to this life destroying epidemic.
Cancer Survivors and Ambassadors for the Pink Phoenix Cancer Foundation,
Michelle Luyt and Sharon Van Straaten were delighted with the support from the mixed
group of Pilates fanatics. The pair host regular motivational talks on Cancer Survival. In 2012 they launched Brave And Beautiful an initiative aimed at educating and encouraging
Cancer sufferers to get over the hurdles that they are faced with on a daily basis. Kids 4 Life is their latest support programme. Their long term initiative is to establish a Support Centre which will offer nutritional, psychological and physical support to Cancer Survivors.
