RE/MAX PANACHE, the market Durban North and Umhlanga Property group, recently celebrated their 20th anniversary at a Gala Evening at the Mount Edgecombe Country Club.
The company was founded in 1996 with a small office in Broadway (Panache House) by Graham and Karen Gavin. Their son Grant, who has successfully run the business for the last ten years, was employed as their part time bookkeeper while he completed his studies at the University of Natal (Durban).
Although the early years were difficult for the company – with an unknown brand and a business system that would disrupt the traditional real estate market – the Gavins stuck to their vision and overcame their challenges, and in 2006 when Grant took over the company they had grown to 30 agents writing R350 Million in residential property sales.
Since 2006, Grant has taken the company to a new level, with RE/MAX Panache now employing over 65 agents working out of 2 franchise locations, and writing residential property sales in excess of R1.2 Billion. In 2015, almost 40% of all residential homes in the North Durban suburbs are now sold by RE/MAX Panache agents.
In his role as Broker/Owner, Grant has received multiple awards for his success with RE/MAX Panache. In 2014 he was named as the National RE/MAX Broker/Owner of the year, the pinnacle of success in the RE/MAX netowork. The company has been the top RE/MAX office in KZN since 2008 and has been placed amongst top three RE/MAX offices in Southern Africa. Grant is also recognised as one of the leading young entrepreneurs in South Africa. In 2015 he was nominated as a finalist in both the National Standard Bank Rising Star Awards – Entrepreneur Category, as well as a Finalist in the 2015 National Business Awards – Top Young Executive (Under 40 Years) category.
Grant has also transformed the company into one that cares about its community, with RE/MAX Panache being the No. 1 contributor to the national RE/MAX Foundation in 2014. In the past 2 years, RE/MAX Panache won the company category of the Institute of Estate Agents KZN CARE Awards. “The North Durban community has been incredible in their support of RE/MAX Panache over the past 20 years and that’s why we will continue to invest back into our community. 2016 will be an exciting year for us as we launch our partnership with a local security company, continue with our annual school renovation projects, will invest in initiatives to help maintain the condition of our municipal verges.”
