BRAAING UP A STORM ON HERITAGE DAY!

HIRSCH AND WEBER HERITAGE DAY COMMUNITY COOK OFF!

Friends and neighbours from Richards Bay to Hillcrest –  and all points in between got together on a beautifully  sunny Heritage day for the  Hirsch and Weber Community cook off that took place at Ballito’s Sugar Rush Park, with teams of six battling it out on Weber Gas Braais for the title of Best Heritage  Day Braai team.

With the very topical theme “Springboks vs. Japan rematch”, the honours went to ‘The 6 Georges’ from Durban North and Westville,  who wowed the judges with their fantastic array of dishes.  They included Prawn and Peppered Broodtjie, Peppered fillet stuffed with shitake mushrooms, Teriyaki Steak (Springbok off;) and “Plawn” salad with Ginger “Dlessing”. They won the much sought after “Weber Braai Bible” and a Gas Braai.  Ballito networking team ‘Braai Networking International’  came in a close second.

With children joining in the cook off – or out in the Park riding their bikes, and the public invited to braai after the main event, the day was all about families and communities getting together to have fun on this special day of the year in South Africa. “This has been the best way to spend Heritage day,  we must do this every year!”  said a happy reveler at the event, Pam Essery.
