At a Power House gathering of the Durban Chamber of Commerce Women in Business forum that was held in the Standard Bank Head Office boardroom in Durban recently, Hirsch’s and the DCCI signed a Memorandum Of Understanding with regards to the launch of the Durban Chamber Of Commerce and Industry Margaret Hirsch Woman In Business Achiever Awards.
Commenting on the collaboration, the CEO of the Durban Chamber, Dumile Cele, who signed on their behalf, said ‘It gives me great pleasure to consolidate this partnership between the Durban Chamber and Hirsch’s. The Durban Chamber WIB Forum aims to be ‘The leader in advocating and promoting the socio-economic interests of Women’. This partnership is an excellent example of the successes of the forum and will allow our female owned businesses a bigger platform to compete on and receive recognition for the outstanding work they are doing in eThekwini.’’
Glenda Thompson, Hirsch’s PR consultant from Get U Noticed PR Consultancy, represented Hirsch’s at the signing ceremony and said that Hirsch’s were immensely proud of this collaboration with the Chamber. “This is a project very close to Margaret’s heart as she has been the recipient of many awards and has seen how beneficial they are to business and to her personally. We would like to encourage women in business in the eThekwini region to come forward and nominate either themselves or their colleagues for the monthly awards (in the Upper Highway, Umhlanga and Greater Durban area) that will culminate in a Gala Awards evening for the announcement of the Regional winner in 2018.”
The application forms to enter the competition will be available on the DCCI website: www.durbanchamber.co.za
