TRENDS IN 2022

MENTAL HEALTH IS VERY MUCH IN FOCUS.  this is the year of prioritizing mental health

On the work front – around the world, and this doesn’t exclude South Africa,

people are resigning from their jobs. This trend does not show signs of slowing down.

69 % of South African companies say they were struggling to find new people.

People are not prepared to go back to their old lives. People are prepared to sacrifice stability

Divorce and semigration are huge.

44% of GAUTENGers are moving – either to the Cape, Eastern Cape or KZN.

People are letting go of their safety nets.

 

WORKING FROM HOME – With the increase in the price of fuel, this trend has continued.

There are big segment of professionals working from home.  They regard their homes as their castles and kitting them out for perfect comfort is a priority.  Working from home is becoming a lot more organized.

The Kitchen  is the new the living room and is where the family gathers more often. There is a lot more FUN in the home.  People cooking together etc.

PETS are trending like never before.

 

THE WORKATION is becoming a thing – People working anywhere in the world as long as there is WIFi.  People are becoming digital nomads.  Learning is being done online, so the whole family can travel.

 

BIOTECH is playing out in our lives. Food tech … protecting our crops is big.  Meat substitutes are huge and Veganism has become one of the hottest eating trends out there.

Fashion … there are clothes on the market  that clean themselves! Clothes that are air conditioned

Fabrics that moisten and protect your skin. Linen is huge.

There is also a massive war on AGEING. THIS IS ALL ABOUT BIO CHEMISTRY

There is research to show that jelly fish can get younger – so why not humans?

 

The ALT BASHE is trending – BREAK UP PARTIES are huge.

People realize that they need to celebrate as it boosts  well being and resilience

 

 

PEOPLE ARE MOVING HOME – and scaling down – BOTH With cars and with houses

 

THERE IS A MAJOR SHIFT IN PRIORITIES :  we need to be more subtle

POWER CUTS. More people installing solar panels AND there are more electric driven cars

BRINGING THE OUTDOORS IN IS A MEGATREND

Get into the sunlight!  We suffered nature deprivation and so now our work spaces are becoming green living spaces. Everything is fully sustainable. The more access we have to nature, the faster the recovery rate of the human race, post COVID.

 

GREENS ARE HUGELY TRENDY.  The colour green makes us happy. It reminds us of a fresh start

YELLOW AND PINK also trending and so is Terracotta.

 

DOPEMINE DRESSING IS HUGE – SO lots of bright colours!!

DEMOCRACY VS AUTOCRACY

Distrust in government and institutions is huge. Has a knock off effect on business. Power is on the side of the workers
